Cary G. Burch Named Among Top Financial IT Executives

Cary G. Burch When The CIO Forum, the leading strategic IT forum for the U.S. financial services industry, recently announced its list of the top financial information technology executives for 2002-2003, First American's Cary Burch was included among the best in the business. Burch, senior vice president and chief information officer for First American CREDCO and president of First American CreditNet, was one of a handful of executives who were selected for the honor after being nominated for this prestigious award by hundreds of their peers in the financial services industry.

The CIO Forum's Advisory Board selected the winners based on their creativity, commitment to the industry, and business results. "The depth of expertise, experience and excellence represented among this year's winners is unmatched," said David Shaw, the Forum's project director.

Burch will receive his award at the Forum's annual conference, which will be held in May onboard P&O's ocean liner Adonia. In addition to the awards ceremony, the conference also offers an opportunity to network with other top-level IT professionals in the financial services market while attending keynote addresses, workshops, and think tanks.

A rising star in business and IT, Burch holds an MBA from Pepperdine University and has studied at Harvard Business School, MIT, and Oxford University in the UK . He willingly takes responsibility for the tough decisions that can lead to sleepless nights or the occasional hot seat. He also understands the need for a little fun and creativity and has been credited with helping to build a positive culture at First American.

Burch is an avid polo player and competes frequently throughout the world. He resides in San Diego with his wife Jessica, three daughters, 11 horses, two dogs and a couple gold fish.

Burch has 20 years of business and technology experience and he has been a pioneer in many technology advancements in the mortgage banking industry. He has worked in top technology positions at First Franklin Financial, Advanta Mortgage and he joined First American in 1998 as First American CREDCO's chief information officer and appointed to the First American Corporate Technology Board. Less than two years into his tenure with First American he took on additional responsibilities as president of First American CreditNet.
